Sean Serra Wraps Up Successful 2011 Campaign

Rising Sun, MD: Honey Brook, PA’s Sean Serra celebrated yet another victory in the competitive Northeast Junior Outlaw Series (NJOS) at Cecil County Dragway on November 5th. This time at the wheel of Bob Caldwell’s Rislone-sponsored Half Scale Dragster, Sean found himself in the winner’s circle for the 7th time in Outlaw 330 competition to cap-off his banner 2011 season. The November 5th win padded Sean’s points lead and guaranteed him the 2011 NJOS Championship for the second season in-a-row.
“I can’t thank Randy [Ditzel] and everyone at Half Scale enough,” said Serra. “I’ve had an excellent race car at every race, the entire season. It takes a lot of pressure off of me, which makes it easier to just focus on driving and to make fewer mistakes.”
“I also have to thank Bob Caldwell for loaning us his Rislone Products dragster for the weekend,” explained Sean, who drove the borrowed ride to a win on 11/5, “It’s great to win for Mr. Caldwell because he is such a huge supporter of Outlaw 330 racing."
Serra will challenge for a third consecutive NJOS title in 2012 behind the wheel of a brand new racecar currently being prepared by Half Scale Dragsters. He also plans to participate in select super pro and footbrake events during the upcoming season, fielding a mid-ten-second Camaro.

Blake Hickman Wins IHRA Division 9 Championship

Laurinburg, NC race Blake Hickman is the 2011 Junior Advanced Champion for IHRA Division 9. He scored two wins along with a runner-up finish. Congrat's Blake!
Ryan Stack Enjoys Late Seaon Success; Resets Canadian Record

My son Ryan recently won two IHRA iron man trophies for the 7.90 class and 13-17 jr dragster bracket class at Grand Bend Motorplex in his Halfscale Outlaw Extreme cars. He also reset the Canadian fastest 330 jr dragster class at Grand Bend Motorplex (4.37 seconds). He has also won the 13-17 Jr dragster Championship at Grand Bend Motorplex. He was not able to close up a narrow point gap as rain outs on the last three days prevented gaining any more points.
At the recent division 5 finals at Martin Michigan (last weekend) he won best engineered jr dragster and made it to the semi finals. We are very pleased with the new Halfscale car and we always have a crowd of people watching when he runs as the car is amazing how it can hook up in any weather conditions.
A few weeks ago when we were testing on a Friday night and the traction was not very good. Another pair of junior dragsters were testing in front of us and dialing a 8.90 and they both spun bad. When Ryan went up with a 7.90 time we were told that the car wouldn't hook.The car hooked with no tire spin and ran a 7.92 and everybody wanted to know what we were doing different.
At the our track's only outlaw 330 event held at Grand Bend Motorplex on September 11th, we had to race other cars that had been running 7.90 but were able to remove all their weight and other cars had a 70 to 80 pound advantage as they could remove all their weight and run lighter driver's. We ran our 2010 Halfscale Extreme swing arm 330 car which ran a Whaley Rhino (weighing 406 pounds) and were able to win the event. There was a crowd at the starting every run we made and we were able to reset the Canadian record 4 times that day and able to win the event. This was possible only with the help that Randy took the time at Bristol at the Mike Bos event, when he went over how we had the car set up and the changes we needed to do and also Jay and Ryan Medlar who we purchased the car from this year and also helped with getting us off to a great start. This was oldest son's last year for Jr dragsters but my younger son will be still racing and we will definitly be staying with Halfscale. RJ Karls & Lunch Money Racing bring home another NHRA “Wally” NHRA Division 7 ET Finals @ Autoclub Dragway

By piloting his 2005 Halfscale Dragster to victory the final race on the 2011 NHRA Division 7 schedule, Lunch Money Racing’s RJ Karls has secured an NHRA Gold Card, US Savings Bond, and another highly coveted NHRA “Wally” statue.
RJ Karls began his drag racing career five years ago (at age 10) on the Rolling Thunder Dragstrip at Mid America Motorplex. Since then he has raced on over a dozen different tracks throughout the central and western United States. Other major achievements include two track championships and an NHRA Division 5 Championship. RJ is one of very few drivers in the JDRL (Junior Drag Racing League) to have won a Wally in two different NHRA Divisions (5&7).
Preparation of the team’s new racecar is already underway for the 2012 NHRA season opener in January.

Notheast Junior Outlaws at the Beaver Blast

Due to some scheduling issues that could not be overcome, we are moving the October 8 & 9 NEJO series races from Englishtown, NJ to Beaver Springs, PA. This will now be two separate races, one on Saturday and another on Sunday. Our races will be part of the annual Beaver Springs "Beaver Blast". The "Blast" is one of the premier junior events on the east coast. Typically there are well over 100 juniors competing in the various age group, index and quick 16 races as this is an IHRA Ironman event. There will also be a TCR race, a huge pit vehicle race a "hot dog" race and many other events. The kids have a great time and this is historically their favorite race of the year.
